Athertons Estate Agents is celebrating 25 years in business and the business’ longevity can be attributed to the tailored approach to each individual sale
2019 has been a milestone year for Athertons Property & Land of Whalley. It has marked 25 years in business, during which time it has established itself as one of East Lancashire’s leading property agents. It also prides itself on supporting local good causes as well as working alongside other businesses in the bustling village.
Since launching back in 1994, Athertons has developed a unique knowledge of the housing market both locally and further afield. This expertise has been crucial in selling properties of all types, sizes and price ranges. Under founder and managing director John Atherton’s leadership, it always strives to achieve the maximum sale price possible for a property.
John says: “As members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), we work to strict professional regulations and guidelines. However, the selling and buying of property is a people-centred process and it is essential that we have the interpersonal skills alongside sound knowledge of the industry and market.”
Much of Athertons’ success and longevity can be attributed to the tailored approach that the agency takes to each individual sale. It places great importance on understanding vendor requirements and using them to shape sales and marketing plans. These foundations underpin the staff’s knowledge and enthusiasm to provide a level of service that is truly second to none.
A brief glance at the genuine testimonials left on Athertons’ Facebook page demonstrates the impact of its service on the lives of those who have used the business to sell or buy their property. The warmth of the words is striking: ‘excellent support’, ‘first-class job’, ‘diligent, professional and cheerful’, ‘speedy and efficient, going above and beyond’.
It is entirely appropriate that John Atherton and his company have been for so long part of the fabric of Whalley, a village known for its hospitality and community spirit. Engagement with the local community has always been at the heart of the Athertons ethos. The business sponsors Whalley’s Cricket, Golf and Tennis Clubs, along with Blackburn Rugby Union Club, Dog Inn FC, Whalley’s only adult football team and the Royal Lancashire Show. John chairs Whalley Chamber of Trade and both he and his company are active supporters of Whalley Pickwick, the pre-Christmas Dickensian festival making a welcome return to the village on Sunday 1st December.
As he contemplates the next 25 years, John Atherton is rightly proud of how his business has grown over its first quarter of a century. Although his staff, which now includes his son Jim, are able to tailor their expertise to suit the individual properties that they are marketing, they are consistent in integrity and enthusiasm. Athertons is clearly both a pleasant business with which to deal and a happy working environment. Located in the heart of the village to which it contributes so much, it remains ‘part of the fabric of Whalley’.
